According to Tony Hoffman Analyst, Printers, Scanner & Projectors said ''Recent inexpensive Dell inkjet multifunction printers (MFPs) such as the Dell V313w All-in-One Wireless Printer ($99.99 direct, 3 stars) have been geared mostly to home-office use. The Dell P513w All-in-One Wireless Photo Printer ($129.99 direct) adds an LCD screen for previewing photos, which gives it more cred as a household printer or for dual use in the home and the home office, provided that your printing demands are light. It has few frills, but provides decent speed and solid output quality, particularly for text.
The P513w prints, copies, and scans. It can print from memory cards or USB thumb drives, even when not connected to a computer. It is white, with a black lid and front panel, and is fairly compact, measuring 7 by 18.8 by 14.5 inches (HWD) and weighing 15.3 pounds. It has a paper capacity of 100 sheets—which relegates it to household use or light duty as a home-office printer—and has an auto-duplexer for printing on both sides of a sheet of paper. The front panel includes, in addition to several function buttons and a 4-way controller, a 2.4-inch color LCD for reviewing photos. A memory-card slot (which fits standard-size memory cards in the SD, MMC, xD, and MS formats) and a port for a USB thumb drive or PictBridge camera are housed behind a protective door.
The P513w provides USB and WiFi connectivity; I tested it over a USB connection to a PC running Windows Vista.
He further comment that
''Print Speed and Output Quality
The Dell P513w printed out the latest version of our business applications suite (as timed with QualityLogic's hardware and software), at a speed of 2.7 effective pages per minute (ppm), a decent time for a $129 MFP. It matched the Dell V313w, which averaged 2.7 ppm, and beat out the Brother MFC-J410w ($100 street, 3.5 stars), which we clocked at 2.2 ppm. The Editors' Choice Epson Stylus NX625 ($149.99 direct, 4 stars) zipped through the tests at an average of 4 ppm. The P513 averaged a swift 45 seconds to output a 4-by-6 print......continue reading
